Casco esférico Bell Super Air Info

The Bell Super Air Spherical Helmet is Bell's convertible trail helmet, built around Flex Spherical protection technology paired with MIPS. Instead of a single rigid shell, it uses a two-piece inner and outer construction connected by tensioned elastomers, letting the outer layer shift independently during an impact to help manage low-speed, high-speed, and rotational forces in one system. The shell itself is Fusion In-Mold polycarbonate, bonded directly to a Progressive Layering EPS liner that varies foam density across the helmet to tune impact absorption where it matters most. It's the same platform Bell builds its full-face Super Air R around, just without the chin bar included.

Ventilation runs deep for a helmet built with this much protection: 18 vents and 4 brow ports channel air through an Overbrow intake system, with wide exhaust ports at the rear pulling heat out on sustained climbs. The Float Fit system dials in a secure hold with a minimalist rubber adjustment wheel integrated with the MIPS liner rather than bolted on separately, and a sweat guide pad routes moisture away from your eyes and eyewear before it becomes a distraction. The mid-length visor adjusts across multiple positions, with enough clearance to run it up over goggles on rougher descents.

What sets the Super Air Spherical apart from a standard trail helmet is its compatibility with Bell's optional chin bar, sold separately, which converts it toward full-face-style coverage for bike park laps or steeper descending days. It's worth noting the helmet isn't downhill certified even with the chin bar attached, so it's built for trail and enduro riding rather than DH racing. RA Cycles carries the Super Air Spherical in Fasthouse Matte Black / White, sized Small through Large. For riders who want one helmet that adapts between all-day trail rides and rowdier descents, the Super Air Spherical covers both ends without needing two separate lids.

The RA Perspective

We like the Super Air Spherical for riders who bounce between all-day trail rides and bike park days without wanting two different helmets in the closet. The Flex Spherical system takes some getting used to conceptually — the two-piece shell is designed to move under impact rather than resist it outright — but on the trail you'd never notice it. It fits and rides like a well-vented trail helmet.

Ventilation is genuinely strong for how much protection this helmet packs in. On long climbs in the heat, the brow vents and rear exhaust do real work, and it doesn't run as hot as some enduro-oriented lids with heavier padding. The Float Fit dial holds well and doesn't loosen up over a rough descent, which is more common than it should be with rear-dial systems.

The tradeoff worth knowing about upfront: the chin bar is sold separately, not included with this helmet, and it isn't downhill certified even when attached. So this isn't a replacement for a full DH helmet if you're spending real time at lift-served bike parks running steep, fast lines. Where it earns its price is everywhere between XC and aggressive trail riding — days where you want more coverage than a half-shell but don't need full downhill certification.

We'd point this at a trail or enduro rider who wants one helmet that adapts to the ride ahead, understanding the chin bar is an add-on purchase, not a bundled accessory.
