Argon 18 Anti Matter Rival AXS XPLR Bike Info
The Argon 18 Anti Matter Rival AXS XPLR Bike is the entry point into Argon 18's Anti Matter platform, the brand's dedicated race gravel bike built around the idea of "Pure Energy. Perfect Control." Argon 18 designed the Anti Matter for riders who prioritize speed, efficiency, and control on rough, unpredictable terrain rather than smooth pavement, and this build carries that same frame and geometry with a SRAM Rival AXS XPLR E1 groupset, putting Argon 18's race gravel platform at its most accessible price point. Raw Magazine called the Anti Matter platform "the fastest gravel bike Argon 18 has ever made" when describing its launch as an aggressive entry into competitive gravel racing.
The full carbon frame and fork use Argon 18's Pro Level Layup construction, the same carbon engineering tier the brand applies across its road race bikes, so stepping into the Rival build doesn't mean stepping down in frame quality. The Anti Matter's Gravel Geometry is derived from Argon 18's endurance road geometry, itself pulled from the brand's performance road race series, giving the bike a riding position built around handling and responsiveness rather than long-haul comfort alone. Argon 18's Fit System gives each frame size its own geometry rather than simply scaling one frame up or down, so fit stays consistent whether you're on an XS or an XL. Tire clearance runs up to 55mm, leaving room to size up when the terrain calls for it.
The SRAM Rival AXS XPLR E1 groupset brings wireless, electronic shifting to this build, still built specifically for 1x gravel racing. A 40t chainring pairs with a 13-speed, 10-46t cassette, giving a wide gear range without a front derailleur, though the Rival-level crankset doesn't come with the integrated power meter found on the Force and Red builds higher in the range. SRAM Rival AXS E1 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm Paceline X rotors handle stopping power on loose surfaces. A CeramicSpeed SLT headset keeps steering smooth — the same premium bearing carried across every Anti Matter build — while a standard SRAM DUB T47 bottom bracket takes the place of the CeramicSpeed unit found on the pricier builds.
DT Swiss G1800 wheels round out the build, paired with Schwalbe G-One RS PRO tubeless tires in a fast-rolling 700x45mm size, the same tire spec used across the entire Anti Matter range. Up front, the ATTEN CHB-01 aero handlebar was engineered surface by surface for aerodynamic gains, with an integrated computer mount and a lightweight, one-piece design shared with every other Anti Matter build. The bike ships with a co-developed ATTEN x Apidura frame bag built to sit flush against the frame for a clean profile while staying accessible from the saddle, useful for long gravel days that call for on-bike storage. A Repente Quasar S 2.0 saddle and an Argon 18 Anti Matter Aero seatpost with 20mm offset complete the cockpit.
This build is for riders who want the Anti Matter's race-bred frame and aero-focused design without paying for a fully loaded groupset and premium wheelset. It's a strong entry point for someone getting into gravel racing, or an experienced rider who plans to upgrade wheels and components over time while keeping a frame that's already race-capable. The Anti Matter Rival AXS XPLR is available in Mystic Dune.
