Argon 18 Anti Matter Red AXS XPLR Bike Info
The Argon 18 Anti Matter Red AXS XPLR Bike sits at the top of Argon 18's Anti Matter platform, the brand's dedicated race gravel bike built around the philosophy of "Pure Energy. Perfect Control." Argon 18 designed the Anti Matter for riders who prioritize speed, efficiency, and control where it matters most: in rough, unpredictable terrain rather than on smooth pavement. This build pairs that frame with a complete SRAM Red AXS XPLR E1 groupset, positioning it as Argon 18's most focused answer to the growing world of competitive gravel racing. Raw Magazine described the Anti Matter's launch as "an aggressive entry into the increasingly professionalised world of gravel competition" and called it the fastest gravel bike Argon 18 has ever made.
The full carbon frame and fork use Argon 18's Pro Level Layup construction, the same tier of carbon engineering the brand applies to its road race bikes, built for riders who don't want to compromise on stiffness or ride quality when the terrain turns rough. The Anti Matter's Gravel Geometry draws directly from Argon 18's endurance road geometry, which itself is derived from its performance road race series — the result is handling and a riding position built around responsiveness rather than long-haul comfort alone. Argon 18 backs this with its Fit System, offering size-specific geometry across the full range so the bike's proportions scale correctly rather than simply stretching one frame size up or down. Tire clearance runs up to 55mm, giving riders room to move up in tire volume as conditions demand.
Power comes from the SRAM Red AXS XPLR E1 groupset, SRAM's wireless, electronic 1x gravel drivetrain built specifically for racing over mixed and rough terrain. The 44t Aero chainring pairs with a 13-speed, 10-46t cassette, giving a wide enough range to cover steep climbs and fast gravel sectors without a front derailleur to manage. The crankset integrates a power meter, and SRAM Red AXS E1 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm Paceline X rotors handle stopping power on loose surfaces. Underneath, a CeramicSpeed SLT headset and T47 Alpha bottom bracket keep friction low — CeramicSpeed builds these by hand in Denmark with a self-lubricating, corrosion-resistant design and backs them with a lifetime warranty, a detail that matters on a bike meant to spend hours in dust and grit.
Zipp's 303 XPLR SW wheelset rounds out the build, a wide-rim wheel Zipp positions as its fastest gravel wheel, designed to integrate seamlessly with wide, tubeless gravel racing tires. Argon 18 spec's the wheels with Schwalbe G-One RS PRO tubeless tires in a 700x45mm size, a fast-rolling race tire with enough volume to handle rougher sectors. Up front, the ATTEN CHB-01 aero handlebar was engineered surface by surface for aerodynamic gains, with an integrated computer mount and a lightweight, one-piece build. The bike also ships with a co-developed ATTEN x Apidura frame bag, built to sit flush with the frame for a clean, aero profile while staying accessible from the saddle — a practical addition for long gravel races or self-supported days that demand on-bike storage without disrupting the riding position. A Repente Quasar CR carbon-railed saddle and an Argon 18 Anti Matter Aero seatpost with 20mm offset complete the cockpit.
This build is aimed at riders training or racing at a level where every component choice is deliberate — competitive gravel racers, or anyone who wants their gravel bike to ride with the same intent as a road race machine while still handling rough, unpredictable terrain. At this price and spec level, the Anti Matter Red AXS XPLR isn't built for casual weekend miles; it's built for riders chasing speed on courses where the smooth line isn't guaranteed.
