Zipp SL Speed (0) Seatpost Info
Seatposts need to do one thing and do it well. When they can also lighten the load, they’re all the better. Zipp has redesigned their SL Speed Seatpost to not only hold saddles better and more easily, but to be lighter as well.
The clamp mechanism is based on a single M5 steel bolt holding 6061 aluminum hardware. It’s a Torx T25 head, just like on their stems. The clamp itself is round in the post, so the saddle angle is adjustable over a huge range and can be as precise as you want it to be. The saddle rail clamps themselves are designed to work with round or square rails regardless of rail material.
The post itself, which comes in either 27.5mm or 31.8mm diameters, and lengths 330mm or 400mm, has a setback of either 0mm or 20mm. In all cases, the minimum insertion length is 100mm. The subtle matte finish hides the work that went on under that top layer. Zipp, taking advantage of SRAM’s Exogram technology, the way SRAM made their Red crankarms so light and stiff and durable, used Exogram to make these posts light and stiff and durable.
The 20mm setback version with a 27.2mm diameter and 330mm length is a mere 172g. The zero setback version is 170g.
They also designed an internal battery mount for Shimano’s Di2 internal battery. It’s a plug design, which you need to purchase separately.
The Zipp SL Speed Seatpost improves the post-saddle interface and saves you weight. A win-win component.
