Giro Disciple Mips Helmet Info

Giro sees the speeds and thrills that come with high speed off-road descending. As they’re in the noggin protection business, they also see the dangers that go with. They knew they could build something that could embrace the extreme edge of speed and danger, adding safety, comfort, and style. The result is the Disciple Mips Helmet. A brain bucket built specifically for downhilling.

They started with the safety standard. ASTM-1952 DH. It is the downhill standard, and is designed for pleasures that marry speed with rocks and trees and loose ground matter. It’s great for people who are pushing the limit downhilling, freeriding, and enduro-ing.

The shell is fiberglass with a permanent chin bar. The visor is adjustable and removable without tools. There’s an integrated, breakaway camera mount; you don’t have to zip tie something up there and hope for the best. The chin bar is equipped with cheek pads that are affixed to the helmet via a quick release system. This is something you only need in case of injury, as removal provides more room to lift the helmet off without turning your  head—unpleasant to think about, but invaluable if you’re ever in such a situation.

The cheek pads also have pockets for Tune Ups speakers. These drop into place taking up minimal space; and there’s room for cables, if you go the wired route, though Bluetooth speakers will also fit in without issue.

The inside of the helmet has an EPS liner. That’s exactly what you’d expect. But they build around it for incredible comfort. There’s custom injected gasket trip and the chinbar is lined with Vinyl Nitrile. No sharp edges, nothing to get caught on. The foam is lined with X-Static padding. There are emergency removable chin pads. The helmet secures via a sturdy D-ring buckle, Fit Kit padding and the Mips liner.

To keep your head from overheating, there are 14 vents that draw air into the helmet, direct air to cooling channels around your head, and out the back.

The Giro Disciple MTB helmet weighs 1250g in a size M.

Complies with the US CPSC Safety Standard for Bicycle Helmet for Persons Age 5 and Older
