Corima was founded in 1973 in the Drôme region of France by Jean-Marie Riffard and Pierre Martin — the name a contraction of their partnership, COoperation RIffard MArtin. For their first 15 years, the firm applied its expertise to moulds and prototypes for the foundry, automotive, and aeronautic industries. In 1988, Riffard and Martin redirected that carbon fiber know-how toward bicycle wheels. The results came quickly: in 1993, Chris Boardman set a new world hour record of 52.270km riding Corima carbon wheels. Every Corima wheel is still designed and hand-built at the company’s plant in Loriol-sur-Drôme, France — not outsourced, not assembled elsewhere.
