Newton Kismet II Shoes Info
To say the perfect fit of these shoes is Kismet would be to underestimate just how much thought went into their design. The Newton Kismet II Shoes have been developed for those runners who want the comfort and action-reaction offered by the Fate II shoes, but who need a little extra stability support.
The Kismet II are meant for folks who require a shoe with a touch more built-in stability aids. Newton accomplishes this by employing their Extended Medial Bridge (EMB) in the outsole, which will provide more functional support for runners who need a greater surface area on the medial side due to pronation or a flatter arch. Combining this technology with the same P.O.P. 2 technology that Newton uses on the Fate II shoes give the Kismet II an ideal mix of support and comfort. Newton realizes that we all can’t be super neutral in our running, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want high pronators to enjoy their jogs. By using the P.O.P. 2 technology, the Kismet II walk that fine line between high-performance race shoes and long-distance comfort. The P.O.P. 2 lug offers the same elastic membrane and hollow chamber like the P.O.P. 1 platform, but the lug is more rounded and articulated in a way to help guide your stride to strike that ideal spot on the ball of the foot. You will still get that desired energy response inherent in the Action/Reaction technology that sets Newton apart from other shoe brands, but the ride will be slightly more relaxed compared to the P.O.P. 1 soles on account of the beveled lugs. And to keep these big-mile shoes, Newton has developed their super high abrasion rubber compound or SHARC, which improves the durability of the underside and enhances the traction and grip, so the shoe can be used in various weather conditions. The 4.5mm heel drop will offer a nice middle of the road angle if you are slowing coming down from the traditional 12+mm drop of old.
For anyone who wants the same comfort as the Fate II, with the support for flat feet or heavy pronation, then you’ll be happy that Newton has given the Kismet II a similar upgrade for the uppers. The one-piece seamless engineered open-weave mesh will conform to the curves of your feet so that you will hardly have to worry about a break-in time. There are no-sew overlays that gives them a sock-like fit and allows for a great deal of breathability. The mesh boasts improved metatarsal stretch panels to provide a comfortable fit for your metatarsal head placement, no matter how narrow or wide your foot. The semi-flat laces will enhance this attention to comfort since you can secure the laces without fearing run-ruining pressure points. Reflective elements placed all around the shoe will keep you visible for those after dark runs.
The Newton Kismet II Shoes come in a men’s and women’s versions, which ensure that whatever your foot shape or size, you should be able to find the fit for you. The men’s weigh around nine and a half to ten ounces while the women’s come it at just over eight ounces, depending on the size you get. If you are looking for sturdy, comfort-oriented shoes for all sorts of running situations, then the Kismet II will quickly take pole position in your shoe rotation.
