The ISM PN 1.0 saddle stands as the top line of the Performance Narrow range. It has the same length as the Performance Long saddles, but is much narrower:  110mm at its widest point. It’s the ideal saddle for a road racer with big, muscular legs that needs to have some added clearance room between the saddle and thighs when pedaling.

Just because it was designed with road racers in mind, don’t rule this saddle out if you are a triathlete or even cyclocross enthusiast. Anyone who doesn’t like to have saddles that are too wide or has a narrow sit bones will be really happy with the PN 1.0. The padding has two layers: one bottom layer of foam and then a top layer of gel. Since this is rated with the 25-series padding that indicates that it is among the lowest levels of padding. But if you are using this saddle for your hard training and race days, you’ll most likely be rotated forward onto your pubic rami bones, which will save you any discomfort around your soft tissue due to the nose-less, forked design. Depending on how aggressive your position, either your sit bones or ischial tuberosities when sitting more upright, will be taking the brunt of the pressure, or your pubic rami bones when you have your hips rotated forward.

In spite of how long it is, this is still a classic ISM nose-less design. Before you head out on your first century with this saddle, though you should be very careful about having it properly adjusted. You can’t simply position it the same way you would your conventional saddle. ISM says that you should have between two and three inches of saddle behind you when you are in position. The lightweight titanium alloy rails offer you quite a lot of wiggle room when adjusting just where you feel more comfortable with it.

Whether you like diving into the corners at your local crit, or just want to have a narrow saddle to meet your narrow sit bones, the ISM PN 1.0 saddle will be the best lightweight option in the ISM stable.
