Deda Espresso Aerobar Info
Deda did something very cool with their Espresso Aerobar. They designed the bar to be both fast and easy to adjust. And UCI and tri’ legal to boot.
They started with a wing-shaped carbon-fiber basebar. It is 42cm wide, measured outside-to-outside. Zero drop. You can run brake cable housing internally and use a plug style brake lever, or brake/shift lever if you’ve got electronics. The wire can go inside, too.
Here’s where it changes. The extensions are effectively atop poles that are built into the bar 115mm apart. Just loosen two bolts and you can move the extension height up or down. The minimum stack to the pads is 38mm, the max 90mm.
Atop the stacks are built-in adjustable armrests that can be moved fore and aft as well as narrow and wide, and they’re atop clamps that secure ski-bend extensions. The extensions go out as far as 310mm and can have shifters, running the cable, be it mechanical or electronic through the extensions. There are included end plugs to keep it quiet and pretty.
The center section is round and 31.7mm in diameter, so most conventional stems will have no trouble clamping on to this.
The Deda Espresso Aerobar even has gradations screened onto the parts, so you can precisely, down to the millimeter, adjust the height and reach.
