Continental Mountain King CX Clincher Tire Info
The Continental Mountain King Cyclocross Tire is a raceable knobby clincher that excels in loose, muddy conditions.
The knobs are big, widely spaced, and with hard, square edges. They dig in and hold on. The rubber utilized is Continental’s Black Chili compound that is known for both excellent grip and low rolling resistance. Excellent durability, too.
The casing is their RaceSport fabric for the 32mm tire. It is wrapped around the beads, putting three plies for a total of 180 TPI under the tread. The sidewalls have two plies, making them more supple.
The casing is wrapped around two Aramid cable beads. Aramid is light and strong and flexible enough to fold.
The Continental Mountain King Cyclocross Tire is designed to work with tubes. The 32mm width fits within the UCI mandate for cyclocross tires, but is wide enough to take a gravel bike on serious off-road adventures. Weight is 320g per tire.
