Cervelo R5 Dura-Ace Di2 Bike Info

The Cervélo R5 is the premier climbing bike made by Cervélo and one of the best. It is also the main weapon of Team Jumbo-Visma for climbing stages in the biggest races, including the Tour de France. In fact, the R5 was used in route to Jonas Vingegaard’s second place finish in the General Classification at the 2021 Tour de France. The new version of the R5 frame comes in at staggering 700 grams which is 15 percent lighter than the previous iteration. The fork is 330 grams which is 7 percent lighter. While low weight is the focus, there is much more to this machine. The R5 can do it all from sprinting to precision handling while remaining comfortable during long endurance rides. If you want the chance to build a top of the line road bike that can do it all, the Cervélo R5 will help you rule the peloton.

The goals of the new R5 were to create the ultimate Grand Tour bike. This means that they needed to fulfill world-class levels of climbing, descending, sprinting, and recovery. Weight, stiffness, aerodynamics, and comfort were all heavily taken into consideration through the redesign of the R5. The stiffness of the frame was optimized for comfort and lower weight while the fork stiffness led to better handling and braking. This version of the R5 is equipped with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset for world-renowned electronic shifting. The Cervélo R5 continues to evolve to remain at the top of the heap when it comes to performance on the road.

This version of the R5 includes improvements to its geometry to maximize performance and comfort. The seatstay junction has been lowered while the stack and reach remain unchanged. The downtube has also been lowered with a fork chin included for better aerodynamics while keeping tire clearance and a low weight. It also has improved vibration management while more seat tube exposure results in a more compliant ride. The Cervélo Squoval Max tube design makes it more aero and efficient for climbing with its rounded, rectangular tubes. This helps the frame improve its performance against wind resistance while minimizing weight and maximizing stiffness and compliance. The Cervélo R5 is more than just a climbing bike, it can hit top speeds on the sprint with the help of these frame improvements.

The Cervélo R5 is one of the most dominant road bikes on the pro tour and can help any rider perform to their best on race day or on a daily ride. This is one of the few bikes that can do it all from climbing to sprinting with virtually no compromise. A dropped bottom bracket keeps you stable at high speeds and the tube angles lead to excellent steering at race-pace. The new R5 is more versatile than ever with more tire clearance and up to 52mm of handlebar stack available. Its ultra-light carbon frame will keep you flying up the mountains and the stiffness of said frame will get you moving with power on the straightaways. Thanks to some extra aero elements, you will charge down descents with excellent handling and confidence. The Cervélo R5 is your all-tool road bike that can dominate a race or any day or training.
