The Cervelo P5 is designed to help you get from point A to point B as fast as possible. It is now faster, more adjustable, and more comfortable than ever. Cervelo has long been known as an innovator in aerodynamics so when they manage to improve the wind resistance of their design, the world takes notice. CFD models, feedback from top triathletes and Tour de France riders, and 3D printed frame models helped them land on the perfect design. The P5 can be seen propelling some of the best riders on the planet on Team Visma Lease-a-Bike through their time trials. The Cervelo P5 is an elite road bike that has posted some of the world’s fastest times in time trials and triathlons.
Somehow, the P5 is even faster this year. The new version of the P5 has a 5 watt advantage over the previous model, a bike that was already dominant at the highest level. A lot of this new speed comes from the wheels. Cervelo opened the fork so it can house its Reserve 63/52 wheelset. This makes the bike aerodynamically faster and the larger-volume tires help lower rolling resistance. This version is equipped with a SRAM Force AXS groupset for performance 12-speed electronic shifting and includes an integrated Quarq DZero powermeter so you can ride like a pro. The Cervelo P5 is as lightweight, stiff, and aerodynamic as you could expect from a TT or tri bike and is still getting faster.
The mind bending speed that comes with the Cervelo P5 does not come at the expense of rider comfort. In fact, the new P5 is the most comfortable iteration yet by quite a margin. Vertical stiffness on the P5 has been decreased by about 22 percent. This was done while maintaining the same lateral stiffness which is the driving force behind sprint speed. The enhanced comfort is thanks to a new fastback seat stay design. With the new design of the P5, time trial riders and triathletes can expect to stay fresher for longer.
Adjustability is essential for aero riders trying to find their perfect position. The Cervelo P5 has a new one-piece front end which is easier than ever to adjust. Its stack is adjustable up to 40mm and the basebar height can drop by 10mm for a more aero front end. There is also a new riser which increases tilt adjustability from 0 to 30 degrees in 5 degree increments. The armrest pads are also wider, taller, and thicker, leading to better comfort and more control. At the front you will also find aerodynamic storage, including a bottle and rear hydration mount. The Cervelo P5 is one of the fastest bikes money can buy with no exceptions.
