Cyclocross often occurs in chilly to cold conditions, and the warm-up is an important part of the pre-race ritual. Castelli's Cross Pre-Race Jacket has Primaloft 60 Silver Insulation Active on the front and the sleeves to get your core temperature up in your pre-ride, and help to keep it there as you wait until the last minute before you remove the jacket at the start line. The Primaloft insulation is exceptional in its ability both to keep you warm and to breathe like a champ.

A Torray 30g water-resistant outer layer provides shelter from the rain, and the Nano Flex material on the back allows excess heat and moisture to escape. The Cross Pre-Race Jacket is designed to be worn over your race kit, so there's a little extra room. There's also lots of storage space, which is especially useful if your cyclocross race garb consists of a skinsuit with no pockets. Three full rear pockets plus a large zipped front pocket will accommodate everything you need.

Castelli rates the Cross Pre-Race Jacket for use between 41 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but we think that range can be extended much lower-particularly with layering, intense activity, or if you're warming up on a stationary trainer.
