Wolf Tooth 110 BCD Asymmetric 4-Bolt Chainrings for Shimano GRX Cranks Info
The Wolf Tooth 110 BCD Asymmetric 4-Bolt Chainrings for Shimano GRX Cranks turn a GRX crankset into a 1x drivetrain, in tooth counts from 36T to 52T. The reason to run one is the tooth profile. Wolf Tooth's patented Drop-Stop shape alternates wide and narrow teeth so the chain sits deeper in the ring, which the company designs for chain retention, wear life and mud clearance. Sizes 46T through 52T use an aero profile that follows the crank arm; 36T through 44T are non-aero.
Match the tooth profile to your chain. Drop-Stop ST is cut specifically for Shimano's 12-speed Hyperglide+ chain, the chain GRX 12-speed runs. Drop-Stop B handles everything else, covering 9, 10, 11 and 12-speed chains including SRAM Flattop. Both fit GRX 600 series and GRX 800 series cranksets, so the ring works across most current gravel builds on Shimano.
These are 1x chainrings and will not work in a 2x setup. One practical note from Wolf Tooth worth repeating: if your riding gets genuinely muddy, run a chain guide or chain keeper alongside a clutch-type rear derailleur. A wide/narrow profile does a lot on its own, but mud is the condition where it needs help, and skipping that step is where chain drops and chain suck come from.
