Womens Group Ride

The time change is behind us, and spring appears to be here in full force! Come join us for a loop through the redwoods of Canyon / Pinehurst, along Grizzley Peak, and back through Lamorinda.

Our Saturday Open Group Ride is doing a similar route, but in the other direction. They will also meet and start at the same time! Check the RA Cycles Northern California Strava club page for that event.

We will meet at 8:00am and roll at 8:30am. The group will head up the Lamorinda bike path to Moraga, and take a right turn on Pinehurst into Canyon. A quick regroup at the top of Pinehurst, and then onto Grizzley Peak for what should be some of the clearest views of the Bay. A quick water stop at the Tilden Steam Trains, then down South Park drive and over to the recently re-opened Wildcat Canyon descent to Orinda. Then we will roll to downtown Orinda and either turn to head back, or continue to Moraga for a few additional miles. The group will decide once we descend Wildcat.

38 miles, and 2800ft of climbing. Should take the group 2.5 hours with stops.

Ramona's Cafe will be open après ride serving light food and beverages!

Marta will be leading as usual.

Please share this ride with your friends and riding groups! If you have any questions or comments, please email me - andy @ racycles . com

Winter Livermore Loop!

In the spirit of getting some winter base miles and a flatter route in the mix, our next shop ride will be out to Livermore and back via Danville / Blackhawk / Highland / Collier Canyon.

Back by popular demand - this ride will be led by Eugene!

From the shop we will roll down Danville Blvd and out to Blackhawk via Camino Tassajarra to Highland, and then loop through Livermore, up Collier Canyon, and back via Camino Tassajarra to Danville Blvd again. About 55 miles, and a whopping 1700ft of vertical.

There will be one stop in Livermore at the Chevron just after we pass under the freeway coming off North Livermore Ave. The Chevron station is on the right hand side of the road.

We will meet at *8:00am* at the shop, and roll at *8:30am*. Very wet roads and/or steady rain will cancel the ride. A little damp and/or slight chance of rain and we still ride! Please keep an eye on this event discussion page for updates.

Please RSVP on this event page so we have an idea how many people are coming!

Please plan your nutrition and hydration accordingly, and make an effort to save the route to your phone, or GPS device.

Winter Training Group Ride

As we head into the 2nd half of winter, and with the Grizzley Peak Century around the corner, we have a longer than normal route served up for you! This route combines Pinehurst to Redwood Road South, over to Palomares Road, and back north through Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville, and Alamo to Walnut Creek.

Looking for at least one person to potentially lead a shorter variation of this loop that turns in Castro Valley and heads back via the Dublin Grade instead of continuing on Palomares Road. Email me if you are interested in leading this route / group. andy @ racycles . com

We will meet at 8am and roll at 8:30am from the shop, and head up the bike path towards Moraga and Canyon, turn left on Pinehurst, then left on Redwood Road all the way over to Castro Valley. We will stop at a market / corner store in Castro Valley, before heading over to Palomares Road. This is a somewhat isolated road, so please bring your repair kit and nutrition so that you can be self sufficient. Once we descend Palomares, we take a left on Highway 84 / Niles Canyon Road to Sunol for our next re-group and bathroom/food stop. Then we head back north Foothill Road to San Ramon Valley Blvd which turns into Danville Blvd back to Walnut Creek. After we hit Rudgear Rd. we will turn left onto Castle Hill to Lancaster to Lilac to Newell to Olympic to Blvd Way.

Please ensure that you download the route to your Garmin/Wahoo, or save it to your Strava App for reference.

Please plan your nutrition and hydration based on the two planned stops, and take the length of the route into consideration.

Please share this ride with your riding groups and partners! If you have any questions please email me andy @ racycles . com.

Group Road Ride - Oakland Hills

The time change is behind us, and spring appears to be here in full force! Come out and join us for another installment of our famous group road rides!

Our Women's Group Ride is doing a similar route, but in the other direction. They will also meet and start at the same time! Check the RA Cycles Northern California Strava club page for that event.

We will meet at 8am at RA Cycles Walnut Creek, and roll at 8:30am. The group will head up the bike path to Lafayette, and take the bicycle bypass route through town to Happy Valley Road and over the top to Bear Creek Road. Left turn at the bottom of Happy Valley and onto Papa Bear climb to Orinda, then up one of Andys favorite climbs, Wildcat Canyon Road. A quick regroup at Inspiration Point Staging Area (bathroom, no water), and then onto the demanding climb of South Park Drive. Left turn onto Grizzley Peak Blvd at the top of South Park, and about 1/4 mile down the road regroup at Tilden Steam Trains (left side of road, bathroom and water). This will be our main stop of the ride. Then the group will continue on Grizzley Peak and merge with Skyline Blvd all the way over to and then down Redwood Road. After a fast and flowing descent down Redwood we take a left turn on Pinehurst for one final climb up and over to Canyon / Moraga Road. Back to the shop via Moraga Way to Glorietta Blvd, and through Lafayette back the way we came.

Weather looks good at the time of posting the ride, but wet roads or steady rain will cancel the ride.

Please make the effort to download the route to your Garmin, Wahoo, or Strava App. We don't try to lose people, but want everyone to have an idea where they are going should they get separated.

Please share the ride with your friends and riding groups!
