Wilier Filante SL ID2 Force XPLR AXS Bike Info
The Wilier Filante SL ID2 Force XPLR AXS Bike is an aero road bike built for riders who want the shape and race-ready position of Wilier's flagship Filante without the flagship price. Wilier has been building bikes in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, since 1906, and the Filante is the line the brand has pointed at the fastest end of road racing. The SL ID2 takes its silhouette and much of its technology from the top-tier Filante SLR ID2, then pairs it with a build aimed at real-world riding rather than a spec-sheet arms race.
The frame and fork are carbon monocoque construction, and every cable runs internally through the R-Bar integrated cockpit. That one-piece carbon bar and stem is new to the SL for this generation. Wilier designed the R-Bar with about 3 cm of flare between the tops and the drops, so your hands sit wider in the drops for control without pushing the brake levers outward. The position underneath it stays compact and forward-leaning, in line with the SLR's racing geometry. The Filante SL is not a relaxed endurance machine, and it doesn't pretend to be. It's a bike for sitting low, putting your head down, and holding speed.
The drivetrain is where this build departs from the usual road bike script. Instead of a two-chainring setup, the Filante SL ID2 Force XPLR AXS uses a single 46-tooth aero chainring with SRAM's Force XPLR E1 crankset, paired to a 13-speed 10-46 cassette and the Force XPLR AXS rear derailleur. XPLR is SRAM's gravel-derived 13-speed platform, and here it means a simple, wireless electronic drivetrain with a wide range: a tall 10-tooth cog for fast descents and flat sections, and a 46-tooth cog that keeps steep climbs turnable. The frame is built around this, with a UDH derailleur hanger and a removable front derailleur mount, so it can run either single or double setups. Braking comes from SRAM Force AXS E1 hydraulic disc calipers with 160mm Paceline rotors.
Tire clearance is one of the more practical updates on this generation. Wilier lists room for tires up to 34mm, up from 30mm on the previous Filante SL, and the bike ships with Vittoria Rubino V tires in a 700x30 size. That extra volume matters on rough pavement, mixed-surface detours, and long days where comfort decides how strong you feel at the end. It also means the bike can take wider rubber if your roads call for it, which makes the aero frame less of a one-trick race machine.
The Miche SWR EVO 50 carbon wheels have a 50mm rim depth that suits the frame's aero intent. They're a reasonable place to start, and if you later want to trim weight or sharpen the bike's acceleration, wheels are the logical upgrade. Selle San Marco's Shortfit 2.0 open-fit saddle comes fitted, and a Filante carbon seatpost with a -15mm offset rounds out the contact points. Pedals are not included, so you'll choose your own.
The Filante SL ID2 is offered in six sizes, XS through XXL, in Drive White, Pivot Grey, Pulse Red, and Flow Blue. Wilier also offers an optional Aerokit SL that integrates bottles and holders into the frame, using standard round bottles rather than the flattened ones on the SLR. If you want an aero road bike with a modern single-ring drivetrain, wide tire clearance, and the lines of Wilier's top Filante, this is the build to look at.
