The Shimano Ultegra PD-8200 Pedals are road clipless pedals built on Shimano's SPD-SLR platform, designed for riders who race or train hard and want a stable, efficient connection to the bike. The body is injection-molded carbon composite, which keeps the pedals light while the platform stays stiff.
The platform is extra wide and sits very low, so your shoe is supported across a large area and close to the pedal axle. Shimano designs the SPD-SLR system with a gapless connection between cleat and pedal, so the cleat engages without any play, which helps when you're climbing or sprinting. Entry and release tension are adjustable, so you can make clipping in easier or hold the cleat more firmly to suit how you ride. The pedals come with Shimano CL-SL110 SPD-SLR cleats, which are yellow and have no fore-aft adjustment.
The SPD-SLR system is different from the standard SPD-SL, and the two aren't interchangeable. These pedals need SPD-SLR cleats, so check your shoes and any spare cleats before you buy. They're available with a standard axle or a 4mm longer axle, which gives wider-stance riders or those who need more room around the crank a better fit. For riders choosing an Ultegra-level road pedal, this is a lightweight option with proper adjustability.
