Scott Fastlane 20 Bike Info
The Scott Fastlane 20 Bike is Scott's take on what an e-road bike should be: a carbon machine that rides like a road bike first and an assisted bike second. Built on a Fastlane HMX carbon frame with a fully internal TQ HPR40 mid motor, the Fastlane 20 is designed for riders who want the reach of a longer day — more miles, more climbing, more consistency — without the bike announcing itself as an e-bike at every corner. The assist is there when you need it. When you don't, it largely stays out of the way.
The HMX carbon frame — Scott's high-modulus extended carbon construction — gives the Fastlane 20 a ride character closer to a performance road bike than a commuter. The geometry is road-forward, the tires are 700x34 Schwalbe One Evo (with clearance for up to 700x38), and the 420mm chainstays keep the handling responsive despite the added system weight. The UDH interface means future derailleur compatibility is locked in, and the Range Extender Ready designation means a second battery can be added if your rides push beyond what the 290Wh internal pack will cover.
Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting runs the drivetrain — a 12-speed 11-34 cassette paired with a 50/34 FSA e-bike-specific crankset. Hydraulic disc brakes use Shimano 105 R7170 calipers with 160mm rotors on both ends. Electronic shifting and motor assist coexist cleanly here: no manual shift trimming, no derailleur noise on climbs when the power comes on. The Syncros Capital 1.0 40 wheels are 40mm deep carbon, a meaningful aerodynamic profile on an e-road bike where the speed range extends higher than a standard road bike in assist mode.
Motor and Battery
The TQ HPR40 mid motor puts out 40Nm of maximum torque — lower than the numbers on many e-bike motors, and that's the point. The HPR40 is built for road riding feel: a compact, quiet unit that blends into the frame and delivers smooth, progressive power rather than sudden surge. In the US, motor assist is active up to 28mph. The 290Wh internal battery is managed through the TQ Bar-End-Display, which connects via Bluetooth and ANT+ and pairs with a dedicated smartphone app for route planning, assist mode adjustment, and battery monitoring. The bar-end position keeps the cockpit clean — no head unit mount required for basic display functions.
Cockpit and Components
The Syncros parts package is built specifically around the Fastlane platform. The Duncan 1.0 iL D-shape seatpost and Syncros Campbell iL Rear Light provide an integrated rear lighting solution — the light mounts cleanly into the seatpost system rather than clamping onto it. Syncros ST-R100-AL stem and HB-R100-AL bars round out the cockpit, along with the Syncros Belcarra V 2.0 NEO Cut Out saddle. A Syncros iS Drop Bar Tool 2 and Coupe Cage bottle cage come standard.
Final Take
The Scott Fastlane 20 is for the rider who wants to ride more — more days, more distance, more climbing — on a bike that still feels like a road bike under them. The TQ HPR40 system keeps the assist quiet and natural, the HMX carbon frame keeps the weight and ride quality in the right range, and the Shimano 105 Di2 drivetrain means the shifting is as clean as anything at this price. It's available in Carbon Black in sizes XS through XL.
