Giordana Women's Scatto Pro MTB Short Liner Info

The Giordana Women's Scatto Pro MTB Short Liner is a padded liner made to sit under baggy or cargo mountain bike shorts. It was developed with a slightly less form-fitting feel than the FR-C Pro liner, and Giordana makes it from a light, breathable spandex that it says provides support and storage.

Storage is two rear pockets with tabs for easy access, fewer than the three on the men's bib version, because this is a short liner and not a bib. The padding is the Cirro W chamois, which Giordana describes as women-specific and intended to add padded protection on the trail.

On cut, Giordana lists an ergonomic shape that is similar in fit to a road bib short, with proper support and compression. Both the waist and the leg openings are straight cut, and the legs use a lightweight, breathable ribbed textured material.

Sizes run XS through 3XL in black, and the liner is made in Italy. The supplier's description does not include a materials breakdown or care instructions, so check the label for how to wash it.

The RA Perspective

Baggy shorts give trail riders pockets and coverage, but they rarely provide a chamois that is up to a long day. That is the job of a liner, and the Scatto Pro is Giordana's version for mountain biking. It is designed to be worn beneath a baggy or cargo short, with a women-specific Cirro W chamois taking care of the padding.

We like how simple the idea is. You get a snug layer of breathable spandex that moves with you, a pad shaped for women, and two rear pockets with tabs, so you can stash small essentials without relying only on the outer short. The legs use a lightweight ribbed material.

There are a few tradeoffs to know about. The liner is a short and not a bib, with a straight-cut waist. Giordana also says the fit is similar to a road bib short, which means it is snug and supportive, and may feel more fitted than the outer baggy. With only two pockets, you have less storage than on the men's bib liner. The description does not list the fabric blend, so check the label for details on care.

It makes sense for riders who want comfort over long trail days without giving up the baggy look they prefer on top. Size carefully, since the cut is meant to be close.
