Giordana Men's Scatto Pro MTB Bib Short Liner Info

Giordana developed the Giordana Men's Scatto Pro MTB Bib Short Liner to be worn under MTB baggy or cargo overshorts, giving trail riders support, storage and a padded chamois in one layer. It has a slightly less form-fitting feel than Giordana's FR-C Pro liner, which suits the looser style of trail riding.

The bib uppers use a mesh back for heat ventilation, and the lower back has three rear pockets with tabs for easy access. The back of the bib upper stretches horizontally only, which Giordana says gives proper support for those pockets. Giordana calls the cut ergonomic and says the fit is similar to a road bib short, with proper support and compression from a light, breathable spandex fabric.

The legs use a lightweight, breathable ribbed textured material, and both the waist and the leg openings have a straight cut. Worn under a baggy or cargo short, the liner handles the support, storage and padding.

For padding, the liner has Giordana's aloe-infused Cirro chamois for comfort on the trail. It is made in Italy and comes in black, in sizes XS through 3XL. No materials breakdown or care details come with the manufacturer's description, so check the garment label for washing instructions.

The RA Perspective

Most mountain bike baggies are comfortable to wear and not much else when you're sitting on a saddle for hours. A liner solves that, and this one from Giordana is designed to go underneath a baggy or cargo short, giving you a chamois, support and pockets without changing how the outer short looks.

What we like on paper is the pocket setup. Three rear pockets with tabs are easy to reach, which makes the liner useful for riders who carry food, a phone and a small tool and would rather not rely on baggy pockets that flap around. The horizontal-only stretch across the back of the bib upper is aimed at supporting those pockets when they are full.

The tradeoffs are worth being honest about. It is a bib liner, so it is built to be worn under another short rather than on its own, and the mesh back and ribbed legs reflect that. Giordana says the fit is similar to a road bib short, so it is snug, and if you want something looser you may find the support feels more road-like than you expect. Also, the manufacturer's description does not list fabric percentages or care details, so look at the label after purchase.

We suggest this for trail and gravel riders who put in long hours and want better comfort than a baggy short can offer. Compared with Giordana's FR-C Pro liner, it is meant to feel a little less form-fitting.
