Giordana Men's G-Shield Thermal Bib Short Info
Giordana Men's G-Shield Thermal Bib Short is built for the shoulder seasons, when temperatures drop into the 40s and 50s and a summer bib short stops cutting it. Giordana recommends the fabric for a range from the low 40s up to the mid 60s Fahrenheit, though that shifts depending on effort level and what you're layering underneath. The 300-gram fleece-lined fabric is tightly woven for wind protection and treated with Acqua Zero Eco water repellent fused directly into the fibers, creating a hydrophobic layer that sheds rain without adding bulk or stiffness. The fabric also builds in support and compression through the leg, which helps on long rides where a looser thermal short would start to sag or bunch.
Giordana's 1on1 Paneling System uses a single seam at the back of the leg instead of the multiple seams found on most bib shorts, cutting down on water penetration at the seams and reducing a common source of chafing on long, wet rides. Straight-cut leg cuffs extend coverage at the front of the leg for added wind and rain protection, and a laser-cut waistband sits against skin without the dig you get from a bound hem. High-stretch jacquard elastic bib straps, woven with G-Shield lettering, hold the short in place without digging into your shoulders, and a mesh panel at the rear keeps the short breathable on climbs when you're generating heat despite the cold air. Reflective stripes on the back of both legs add visibility for the shorter, darker days these shorts are built for.
Inside, Giordana uses its aloe vera-infused Cirro S chamois, shaped for long saddle time rather than short training spins. The fabric blend is 76% nylon and 24% elastane, giving the short compression and shape retention through repeated wear and washing. It's part of Giordana's G-Shield collection, built alongside a matching jersey, bib tight, and arm warmers for riders who want a complete cold-weather kit rather than piecing one together from separate lines. Made in Italy, the G-Shield Thermal Bib Short suits riders who keep training through fall and early spring rather than moving indoors once the temperature drops.
