The Giordana Beyond Gravel Alpha Jacket is an insulated, wind-resistant jacket from Giordana's Beyond Gravel Collection, which the brand designed for riders who deal with shifting forecasts, changing surfaces and time off the bike. Giordana says it stops wind, water and chill while leaving you free to move.
Materials and warmth
The windproof nylon outer (86% nylon, 14% polyurethane) carries a water-resist treatment. Inside is Polartec Alpha Direct insulation, 100% polyester, and Giordana pairs it with thermal panels on the sides of the body and arms (90% nylon, 10% spandex) for breathability. The sleeve cuffs are a stretchy 70% nylon, 30% elastane blend.
Design details
Giordana cuts it in a relaxed fit with unisex sizing. A two-way zipper lets you open the jacket from the bottom or top, and there are front hand pockets for warming your hands or storing small items. A concealed mesh pocket lets the jacket pack into itself, which helps when you want to stash it in a bag. Reflective piping adds some visibility.
The jacket is made in Italy and comes in black and lime, sizes 2XS through 3XL. Giordana's size guidance suggests that customers who are new to the brand or between sizes size up. Care is a cold machine wash at 30° C, with no bleach, no tumble dry, no iron and no dry cleaning.
