The Assos RSR Bolide Socks S11 are a 19cm aero racing sock. Assos calls them WorldTour-proven and UCI-legal, built with drag-reducing textiles in a second-skin fit, and updated for S11 with increased aerodynamics in mind.
The idea behind them is simple. Assos says the Bolide socks help eliminate the need for aero booties when you don't want the extra grams, the extra layers, or the hassle of pulling booties on. Assos also states the socks were proven in wind-tunnel testing through its AeroScience program, which is the kind of claim worth keeping in mind if you race, ride time trials, or chase Strava segments where small drag savings matter to you.
The construction uses two different blends. The ankle is 56% polyester, 24% polyamide and 20% elastane. The foot is 85% polyamide and 15% elastane. The high elastane content at the ankle is what holds the cuff close to the leg, and the polyamide-heavy foot keeps the sock thin enough to sit comfortably inside a tight race shoe.
These are warm-weather socks. Assos rates them for riding above 69.8°F (21°C) and scores them 5 out of 5 for breathability, quick drying and packability, with insulation at 1 out of 5. The fit is racing, meaning snug by design. If you're between sizes, ask us before you order.
The RSR Bolide comes in White Series in three sizes: 0 (shoe size 35-38 / US 3.5-6), I (39-42 / US 6.5-9) and II (43-46 / US 9.5-12). At $115, they're priced as a premium race accessory, and Assos backs them with a two-year warranty.
