We recommend the Donzi to riders who do most of their riding in consistently bright conditions — the Category 3 lens is genuinely dark, and at just under 13 percent light transmission, it's built for strong sun, not overcast mornings or dusk group rides. If your riding schedule includes a lot of variable light, Assos's FotoDynamic photochromic lens option is the better call.

Where the Donzi earns its price is fit and airflow. The adjustable nose pads and temples let you get a genuinely secure fit rather than hoping the frame shape matches your face, and the kraterCooler venting does a good job keeping the lens from fogging on hard climbs when you're breathing heavy into the frame.
