ISM PS 1.1 Saddle Info

If you are looking for a saddle to use in your triathlons or time trial series, but want to have a bit more padding for those long base mile rides, the ISM PS 1.1 Saddle will quickly fit the bill.

The PS 1.1 follows a similar design as the pricier but lighter PS 1.0. The PS represents Performance Short in the ISM vernacular, and is perfect for those riders who don’t like to move around too much on their saddles. The shape is designed for total comfort when using the time trial aero bars or indeed in an aggressive forward position on your road bike. The sloped front arms, combined with the foam and gel padding on each fork, will give you the support you need without putting any pressure on the soft tissue or perineum. The PS 1.1 also features a slight upward slope at the rear of the saddle that provides excellent hip support when your body is rotated forward in the aero position, or an aggressive road riding position. Where it differs from its PS brother is that the 1.1 has an extra helping of foam and gel padding. If you don’t mind giving up a few grams for the peace of mind that a little extra padding will give you after four or five hours in the saddle, then you’ll definitely want to have a go with the PS 1.1.

Before you head out on your first century with this saddle, though you should be very careful about having it properly adjusted. You’re already doing pretty well thinking outside the box by purchasing one of these duel-pronged saddles. Now make sure you don’t mess it up by trying to set it up the same way you would your conventional saddle. ISM says that you should have between two and three inches of saddle behind you when you are in position. It comes with a rear transition hook to facilitate hanging your bike up when you are changing to the run portion of your triathlon. The chromoly rails, slightly heavier but more cost effective than the Ti rails you’ll find on the PS 1.0, allow for a good degree or forward or backward adjustment.

The ISM PS 1.1 Saddle is 245mm long and 135mm at its widest point. If your performance has been suffering because you never felt at ease in your position, the PS 1.1 will provide a great opportunity to reduce your times by increasing your comfort. The PS 1.1 weighs 295 grams.
