Zipp Alumina Bottle Cage Info

The Zipp Alumina Bottle Cage takes its design lessons from Zipp’s SLSpeed cage. The difference is that the Alumina is fabricated out of 6061 aluminum whereas the SLSpeed is carbon-fiber. The Alumina is only 9g heavier, at 27g total, and much less expensive.

The Alumina is designed for both bottle security and easy access. For some companies, meeting these two needs is hard, but not for Zipp. The thin, flat arms gently squeeze the bottle and the greater surface area adds the necessary friction to holds the bottle in place.

Zipp also wanted this cage to be useful to people who ride small frames or have very tight clearances to negotiate. That’s why the arms dip down from the sizes towards the middle. By situating the arms like this, you can pull the bottle straight out or to the side. And by having the bottle stop on the arms as opposed to the frame side bracket, it’s easier to fit the cage into the crowded real estate of a seat tube, where things like front derailleurs and chain guides and tube shaping can get in the way.

The Zipp Alumina Bottle Cage is easy and secure.
