Orca Wetsuit Baselayer Info
Freedom of movement and thermal control are two essential attributes any wetsuit or accessory needs to be tackled. The Orca Wetsuit Baselayer, which can be used underneath a wetsuit or on its own, will give you the protection from muscle-stiffening cold water while offering an uninhibited range of motion.
Orca makes their Wetsuit Baselayer from their Yamamoto 39cell neoprene. It is an extremely flexible material that works with you throughout the swimming motion. The neoprene is only 0.5mm thick with a thin, soft jersey lining which makes this base layer easy to get on and off as well as comfortable against the skin. You can feel secure in wearing it as an outer layer for training days as well since it will not absorb water, and will on its own offer a perfect balance between buoyancy and flexibility. You will feel faster in the water, but still warm and comfortable. The Orca Wetsuit Baselayer has a long body length that incorporates a special gripper hem panel that will suction to your hips and prevent water from seeping in, an essential attribute to any neoprene top.
If you have avoided wearing sleeved tops in your open water swims because you hate the energy-sapping feeling of being restricted in your stroke, but have gotten too chilled too many times to avoid the long arms anymore, you can take heart that the Orca Wetsuit Baselayer has been designed with a flexible 0.5mm neoprene underarm panel that will allow you to move your arms in whatever direction you require. Even if you pair it with an Orca wetsuit, you will still be able to move your arms as easily as you can in your bathing suit at your local pool.
Whether you are engaged in training for an Ironman, or just want to have a little extra protection while having fun with some water sports on a family vacation, the Orca Wetsuit Baselayer will provide durable protection from the chill of the open waters without giving you that terrible hemmed-in feeling.
