BMC was founded in 1986 and reestablished in Grenchen, Switzerland in 1994 — a city where watchmaking heritage set the standard for precision manufacturing. The brand’s direction changed in 2000 when Andy Rihs, owner of hearing aid company Phonak, acquired BMC with a clear goal: build the Porsche of race bikes. Rihs put BMC bikes under Team Phonak’s WorldTour riders, channeling professional racing feedback directly into development. The results are part of cycling history: Cadel Evans won the 2011 Tour de France on a Teammachine SLR, and Greg van Avermaet took Olympic gold at Rio 2016 on the Teammachine SLR01. BMC continues development through its Impec Advanced R&D Lab in Grenchen. Learn more at BMC’s official website.
RA Cycles carries BMC across four distinct platforms. The Teammachine is the race-focused line — precise geometry, stiff carbon construction, available in R and SLR builds with Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS, and Campagnolo Super Record configurations. The Roadmachine brings a more compliant endurance geometry for long days in the saddle. The Kaius 01 is the gravel platform, available as complete bikes and framesets. At the top of the range, the Timemachine handles triathlon and time trial duty. Prices run from $3,299 to $23,000 for the Speedmachine 00 LTD.
