SRAM X01 Eagle Grip Shifter Info
SRAM’s X01 Eagle Grip Shifter brings back the classic motorcycle twist-shift that put SRAM on the map. You can shift the entire range in either direction, and move the chain flawlessly even when you’re vision is tunneled and your coordination beyond your pumping legs is shoddy.
First, the grip and shifter is an integrated unit. This improves fit and feel and security. They do this with something they call Jaws technology. The underbody of the grip slides into the underbody of the twist shifter to help hold both in place, and there are pinch bolts both on the stem side of the shifter and the outside of the grip for secure clamping. By integrating the two, they were also better able to shape both the shifter grip and the handlebar grip so they meet almost seamlessly. Aesthetically, it’s an improvement as well.
Second, they utilize three sets of bearings underneath the twist. These roll smoothly, are durable, and reduce the effort it takes to actuate a shift thanks to the nearly zero drag that the bearings afford.
Third, they make the indexing element out of steel rather than aluminum or plastic. This provides both a pleasantly discrete stopping point as well as durable action. This element is designed for twelve shifts, and the throw between shifts matches perfectly with the travel of the Eagle derailleur.
The X01 Eagle Feature eschews carbon-fiber, preferring a composite cover of the shifting mechanism. A penalty of three grams, making the weight for the shifter 143g. Cable and housing are included.
The SRAM X01 Eagle Grip Shift is simple, precise, durable, and fast.
