Vittoria’s Corsa Open Tubular has always been a fast and popular tire. Vittoria has taken this venerable tire to the next level by updating the casing to make this Corsa Speed G+ tire Tubeless Ready. This is a high-performing race-day tire that now has the ability to go without a tube, for even less rolling resistance, provided you’re installing this tire on a tubeless ready rim. You can run it with a tube, and it still goes really fast as well.
People love the Open Tubular thanks to the tubular tire-style construction. Tubulars have a deserved reputation for riding well. The reputation comes from the supple ride and resulting speed one experiences. This tire is largely constructed the same way Vittoria builds their race tubulars and the resulting ride is very much like the best tubulars. They start with their most supple casing, their 320 TPI Corespun fabric. It’s thin, it deforms easily, both of which aid performance. Thin means it’s light, and less weight you’re turning makes the wheels faster. The easy deformation means it rolls over bumps and road imperfections more easily.
The inside of the carcass is non-porous, making it possible to run these tires tubeless. Make sure to install your favorite sealant. Vittoria recommends their own Pit-Stop goo. The more you put in, the less likely you are to get a flat. The less you can get away with, the faster the resulting wheel.
The tread rubber is also important to the speed of this tire. They worked hard on both the rubber and the tread pattern to maximize speed and grip. The rubber is Vittoria’s
G+ Graphene Isotech rubber. This compound is the grippiest they make. With the rubber, they form it into a tread that has tested very well in terms of both low rolling resistance and high grip. And it grips well in all weather conditions
The Vittoria Corsa Speed G+ Tubeless tire is also the lightest Vittoria goes for road tires. The 700c by 23mm width weighs 225g, while the 25mm version weighs 240g.
