Officially launched on January 18, 2019 at the Vélofollies de Courtrai expo just outside Lille, Van Rysel emerged as Decathlon’s dedicated high-performance cycling brand, continuing a rich lineage that began under the B’Twin name and evolved through Triban to meet the demands of competitive road and endurance riders.

The name “Van Rysel” itself is a nod to its roots: “Van” means “from” and “Rysel” translates to “Lille” in Flemish, paying homage to the heart of French Flanders and its storied classics like Paris–Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders. From its inception, designs—from aero road frames to gravel-adapted bikes and triathlon-specific gear—are conceived and assembled in Lille, ensuring that every helmet, textile, and component meets strict performance standards.

Innovation is at the core of Van Rysel’s evolution, beginning with the launch of its flagship Ultra frame in 2018 and expanding in 2020 to include the endurance-focused EDR series in both aluminum and carbon variants.
