ENVE SES 6.7 Disc Wheel - Rear Info
The ENVE SES 6.7 Disc Wheel - Rear is the rear half of ENVE's flagship road aero wheelset, built around a 67mm-deep full carbon rim. ENVE caps its SES aero lineup around the 70mm mark deliberately — beyond that depth, aerodynamic gains taper off fast while the weight penalty keeps climbing, so the 6.7 sits at what ENVE calls the sweet spot of aero efficiency, weight, and stability rather than chasing rim depth for its own sake. It's a road wheel built for racing and fast group rides, not for gravel or off-road use — ENVE is explicit that the refined, lightweight sidewall construction isn't intended for use off pavement.
ENVE builds the SES 6.7 with different rim depths front and rear on purpose: a 60mm front wheel paired with this 67mm rear. The logic is aerodynamic rather than cosmetic — the front wheel is shaped to hold its line in crosswinds, since stability up front matters most for handling, while the deeper rear wheel is shaped to recapture airflow as it moves from the front of the bike to the back, which is where ENVE says the bigger drag reduction actually happens. Buying this wheel on its own makes sense for riders replacing a damaged rear wheel or building a mixed setup, but the aero benefit is designed around running it with the shallower front wheel from the same set.
The rim carries a 23mm internal width and 30mm external width, and ENVE built the whole SES 27 line around a labeled 27mm tire rather than the narrower tires aero wheels were historically optimized for — its own testing found that higher-volume tires deliver more real-world speed and control than earlier thinking assumed. A 25mm tire still works, but 27-28mm is what ENVE recommends for the lowest rolling resistance. The rim uses a hookless tubeless bead, and ENVE adds its own Wide Hookless Bead design at the rim's leading edge, intended to give impacts a more forgiving surface and cut down on pinch-flatting a tubeless tire when you hit something hard.
Behind the rim is ENVE's INNERDRIVE Premium Straight-Pull hub, the company's own drive mechanism rather than an off-the-shelf unit. The oversized steel ratchets sit inboard and over the bearings instead of outboard of them, which ENVE designed to reduce stress on the axle and bearings while keeping engagement positive. The hub ships with a 40-tooth ratchet (9-degree engagement) and accepts optional 60t, 80t, and 100t ratchets for riders who want faster engagement, sold separately as an upgrade kit. The straight-pull hubshell also means a single spoke length works for the whole rim diameter, spoke holes are cut with an anti-twist feature to keep tension consistent during building and riding, and the spacing between spokes is designed to eliminate the creak that crossed spokes can develop over time. This rear wheel runs 24 spokes on a 12x142mm thru-axle with a Centerlock disc mount, and is available with HG (Shimano/SRAM 11-speed), XDR, or Campagnolo N3W freehub bodies to match your drivetrain — lockrings aren't included.
Complete with tape, valve, and the INNERDRIVE hub, this rear wheel weighs 825 grams — heavier than the 691-gram front wheel, which is expected given the deeper rim and the added mass of the driveside hub internals. Paired with its front counterpart, the full SES 6.7 set comes in under 1,550 grams, light enough to matter on rolling terrain while still holding speed on flat, fast stretches where the deeper rear rim earns its keep. This is a wheel for riders racing on the road, doing time trials, or just want their bike to hold speed better on club rides and fondos, and it's built to go head-to-head with dedicated time trial and triathlon wheels rather than serve as a general do-everything wheel.
