Yeti ASR C2 Bike w/RockShox SID Ultimate Fork Info

The Yeti ASR is built to be the best XC mountain bike Yeti has ever made — and the Yeti ASR C2 Bike w/RockShox SID Ultimate Fork is how you get there for $6,200. The C2 shares the ASR’s geometry, suspension architecture, travel, and integrated frame features with the higher-tier builds. The key differences are C-Series carbon instead of TURQ-Series, a RockShox SIDLuxe Select+ rear shock instead of Ultimate, and SRAM GX Eagle mechanical shifting instead of X01 or AXS. What doesn’t change: the 115mm flex stay suspension, the 66.5° head tube angle, the Hangerless Interface, the integrated rear fender, the dual water bottle mounts, and the shorter seat tube that allows longer dropper posts than most XC bikes accommodate.

Yeti’s C-Series is their standard-grade carbon construction, a step below the TURQ-Series custom ply engineering that defines the top ASR builds. That gap shows primarily in weight and ride feel — the C-Series frame is stiffer and heavier than TURQ by a measurable margin, but it’s still a full carbon XC frame with the same geometry Yeti designed for racing. The flex stay suspension design has Yeti roots going back to 2003 and has been refined for modern kinematics on every build level — C-Series included. The SL Rocker Link, the near-linear leverage rate curve, and the 20% sag recommendation carry through unchanged.

The product name singles out the RockShox SID Ultimate fork because it’s the upgrade that defines this build. Base C-Series ASR builds come with a lower-spec fork; the C2 steps up to the same SID Ultimate found on T2 and T3 builds. The rear shock is a RockShox SIDLuxe Select+ 3P — 3P indicating Predictive Steering compliance, which keeps the suspension geometry consistent under braking loads. It’s a quality unit and the right pairing for an XC-focused build at this price. The Fox Transfer SL Performance Elite dropper runs 125mm on XS and S frames, 150mm on medium through XL, taking advantage of the ASR’s unobstructed seat tube design.

The cockpit spec on the C2 reflects a broader trail orientation than the tighter T-tier builds. The Burgtec Ride Wide Alloy bar runs 760mm wide — 20mm wider than the T-tier ASR cockpit — and the Burgtec Enduro MK3 stem is a short 50mm. These dimensions prioritize stability on technical terrain and descents over the efficient sprint position of a dedicated race cockpit. If you’re planning to race XC on this bike, a narrower bar swap is easy; if you’re primarily trail riding or racing courses with technical descents, the stock setup works well as-is.

Design Benefits

  1. RockShox SID Ultimate Fork — The fork is the standout spec at this build level. The SID Ultimate is the same fork Yeti runs on the T2 and T3, and it defines how this bike feels at the front end. TwistLoc capability routes internally through the frame for clean integration, and the SID Ultimate’s suspension performance is not compromised by the rest of the C2’s build spec.
  2. SRAM GX Eagle Drivetrain — GX Eagle is SRAM’s value-tier 12-speed drivetrain, and it’s remarkably good for the price. Shifting is reliable, the 10-52T range handles any gradient, and the mechanical system requires no charging and can be tuned on the trail. For riders transitioning from older drivetrains or not racing seriously, GX Eagle is a legitimate long-term choice.
  3. ASR Suspension Architecture — The C2’s flex stay suspension, leverage rate curve, and sag spec are identical to every other ASR build. The 3P-compatible SIDLuxe Select+ shock maintains suspension geometry under braking. At 115mm travel with a near-linear progression and 10% ramp in the last quarter, the suspension character is the same regardless of the frame material.
  4. Trail-Oriented Cockpit — The 760mm Burgtec Ride Wide Alloy bar and 50mm Burgtec Enduro MK3 stem position the C2 for stability on technical terrain. Wider bars lower the front end slightly and give more leverage for steering through rough sections — a reasonable default for a bike that will likely see varied trail conditions.
  5. Full ASR Frame Package — Integrated rear fender, dual water bottle mounts inside the frame triangle, Hangerless Interface for Eagle derailleur mounting, and the shorter seat tube for full dropper travel. The C-Series frame carries all of the ASR’s integrated features at a lower carbon tier.

Final Take

The Yeti ASR C2 is the entry into the ASR platform — the bike for riders who want Yeti’s XC race geometry and the SID Ultimate fork experience without the cost of TURQ-Series carbon or a premium drivetrain. The C-Series frame is heavier than TURQ, but the geometry, suspension design, and integrated features are the same. At $6,200, this is a capable, honest XC mountain bike with room to grow as you upgrade individual components.

The RA Perspective

The C2 is the conversation starter for riders who have been curious about the ASR but are not sure they need to be at the top of the build range. Our honest take: the frame material difference between C-Series and TURQ-Series is real, and experienced riders will notice it on climbs and during hard accelerations. But for a first Yeti, or for a rider who prioritizes trail versatility over outright race weight, C-Series is a reasonable trade.

What we appreciate about this build specifically is the SID Ultimate fork. It is a genuine upgrade over what comes on the base C-Series ASR, and it is the same fork we see on the T2 and T3 builds. The front suspension character does not change — you are getting real SID Ultimate performance, which is noticeable on rocky trail sections and fast XC courses alike. The SIDLuxe Select+ rear shock is a step below Ultimate, but it is competent and the 3P designation means the suspension geometry holds up under braking.

The Burgtec cockpit is wider and shorter than what you would find on the T-tier builds. That is not a criticism — for trail riding and mixed-terrain XC it is actually a better starting point. Riders who want to race seriously might swap to a narrower bar, but for everything else the stock setup works.

GX Eagle mechanical is what it is: reliable, serviceable, and good value. If you are coming from an older drivetrain it will feel like an upgrade. If you are coming from X01 or AXS it will feel like a downgrade. Most riders in the $6,200 price range are in the first camp.

The C2 is a good bike. It is just not the ASR in full — and that is worth knowing before you buy.
