The SRAM Red XG 1190 Cassette is built around a single engineering constraint: remove every gram that doesn't earn its place. At 151g for the 11-25 configuration, it's among the lightest 11-speed cassettes available — achieved not by thinning cogs uniformly, but by thinking carefully about what each cog actually needs to be made of.
The construction tells the story. The nine middle cogs are machined from a single block of steel — SRAM calls this PowerDome X — giving the cassette a stiffness and durability that a purely aluminium build wouldn't match. The large cog is aluminium, pressed on to keep weight down where it matters most. Between each cog, small elastomers — StealthRings — damp chain vibration and reduce drivetrain noise while also extending the working life of both chain and cassette. The X-Glide ramp pattern across the cogs is designed to move the chain smoothly and positively under load, whether you're shifting up or down mid-sprint or mid-climb. Compatible with SRAM 11-speed drivetrains, and recommended for use with an 11-speed chain for best shifting performance.
