The Rotor INPower 3D+ MAS Crank takes a different approach to power measurement — rather than attaching strain gauges to the crank arm exterior, Rotor houses everything inside the 30mm hollow aluminium spindle itself. That placement keeps the electronics shielded from crashes and the elements, and it puts the added mass — 30g — rotating at the smallest possible radius, which matters more than it sounds over a long ride.
The spindle-based design also makes the INPower notably resistant to temperature variation, a common source of drift in other power meters. The system samples at 200 times per second, averaging to five data points per second transmitted to your head unit via ANT+. Beyond raw wattage, Rotor includes two additional metrics: Torque 360, which maps pedalling forces across the full stroke, and OCA (Optimum Chainring Angle), which helps riders using Q-Rings dial in their oval chainring orientation. Stated accuracy is +/- 1.7% with Q-Rings. Power is supplied by a single AA battery, rated for up to 300 hours of riding.
