Magura MT8 SL Disc Brake and Lever

Magura MT8 SL Disc Brake and Lever is Magura's lightest disc brake, built for cross-country and marathon racing where every gram counts but stopping power still matters. The whole system weighs just 195g, using a one-piece forged aluminum caliper with two pistons that Magura says delivers the strongest braking and stiffest platform in its 2-piston lineup despite the low weight. The brake master is molded from Carbotecture SL, a carbon-reinforced composite that's lighter than standard plastic composites while holding up to hydraulic pressure, and the lever blade itself is 1-finger HC carbon, which Magura positions as lighter and stiffer than an equivalent aluminum lever.

The lever has a flip-flop design so it mounts on either side of the bar, a toolless reach adjustment, and an aluminum handlebar clamp, with a 2,200mm hose and postmount caliper. Bleeding is designed to be straightforward for home maintenance, and the whole system carries Magura's 5-year leak-proof guarantee. At $369, the MT8 SL is aimed at XC racers and weight-conscious trail riders who want a brake that disappears on the scale without giving up the modulation and power of Magura's larger 2-piston brakes.
