Lake MX30G Wide Shoes Info

The Lake MX30G Wide Shoes take Lake's MX30G off-road shoe and build it on a wider last for riders who need more room through the forefoot on long gravel or mountain bike rides. The upper is available in either a Clarino microfiber, which stands up to knocks from rocks and technical trail debris, or an ultra-breathable mesh that drains quickly after river crossings and keeps airflow moving around the foot on hot days. Both versions include padding around the heel to keep the foot stable and locked in place without pressure points.

Underneath, Lake uses its Race 100% Carbon Fiber sole, which keeps the shoe light while staying stiff enough for efficient power transfer over long rides. Durable TPU lugs are molded into the sole for grip on loose and technical terrain, and the lugged over-sole includes provisions for toe spikes when conditions call for extra traction. Closure comes from dual BOA® Fit System Li2 dials, Lake's most advanced BOA platform, which allow for precise, micro-adjustable tension in both directions and are built to resist abrasion from trail debris.

The MX30G Wide is available in Blue/White Mesh and White/White Clarino, sized 37 through 50. It's built for gravel and MTB riders who spend most of their time pedaling but still need a shoe that can grip and stabilize the moment their feet touch the ground.

The RA Perspective

The MX30G Wide solves a real problem for riders who love Lake's off-road shoes but find the standard MX30G last too narrow through the forefoot. The wide version keeps everything that makes the standard shoe good — the carbon sole, the BOA Li2 dials — and just gives your foot more room to spread out on long days in the saddle.

The dual BOA Li2 dials are the standout feature here. Being able to adjust tension independently across the upper and lower zones means you can loosen the forefoot on a long climb without losing heel lock, which matters more off-road than on pavement, where your foot moves around more inside the shoe.

The carbon sole is genuinely stiff, which is exactly what you want for power transfer but means less flex than a nylon-soled shoe if you're doing a lot of hike-a-bike. The TPU lugs and toe spike provisions make up for some of that — you get real traction when you're off the bike, not just a road shoe pretending to be a gravel shoe.

We'd point these at riders with wider feet who've been frustrated trying to size up in a standard-width gravel shoe, or anyone doing long adventure rides where foot swelling over hours in the saddle makes a roomier fit worth the tradeoff.
