The Continental Mud King 27.5" Clincher Tire is built for one thing: keeping you moving when conditions are at their worst. Tall, widely-spaced tread blocks dig into loose, wet, and sticky terrain without packing up with mud — the open spacing between knobs clears debris with every revolution. The 2.3" profile is wide enough for confident traction but engineered with upright edge knobs so it still clears tight frame and fork clearances on muddy days when every millimeter counts.
The casing construction is no afterthought. Continental starts with a 60 TPI base cloth, then layers it — four plies on the sidewalls and six under the tread — for a casing that resists cuts and impacts in rough gravity riding. An Apex layer of extra rubber between the sidewall plies adds structural support at lower pressures, so the tire holds its shape when you're absorbing big hits rather than folding under load. The exterior sidewall carries a rubberized checkerboard finish that adds both puncture resistance and durability against abrasion. Tread compound is Continental's Black Chili — the same formulation found on their road racing rubber — delivering grip and durability without sacrificing tread life.
