The Race Last features a slightly narrower toe box and tighter heel than Lake's Competition last, with less overall volume — a geometry tuned for speed, not comfort compromise.

The upper is where the CX403 separates itself from the rest of the range. Klite Kangaroo leather forms the outer shell — a naturally lightweight, breathable material that conforms to the foot and softens into the rider's shape over time. Carbitex OmniFlex Carbon Fiber Stabilizer Support panels are integrated throughout, controlling stretch under load and channeling foot pressure directly into the drivetrain. Inside, a perforated kangaroo leather lining adds another layer of fit refinement. The moldable carbon heel counter can be heat-shaped to the rider's anatomy, eliminating slip and locking in the heel hold that high-cadence riders depend on.
