Wilier Rave SLR ID2 Rival XPLR E1 Bike w/Alloy Bar and Carbon Wheels is Wilier's dedicated off-road racer, a ground-up redesign of the Rave SLR platform built with one focus: going fast when the pavement ends. This Rival XPLR E1 build pairs SRAM's wide-range 1x AXS drivetrain with carbon wheels and an aluminum cockpit, landing the aero-focused ID2 chassis at a more accessible price point without touching the frame that makes it fast.
The frame is a carbon monocoque built on Wilier's SLR platform, using a HUS MOD layup paired with Liquid Crystal Polymer for stiffness without excess weight, and the fork shares the same construction. Wilier developed the ID2's tube shapes through months of wind tunnel testing and CFD simulation, aimed at cutting aerodynamic drag at gravel race speeds rather than just on smooth tarmac. Wilier states the result is an efficiency gain of 5.3 watts at 35 km/h over the previous Rave SLR — over a 70km course at race pace, that's real time saved without spending extra energy. It's a gravel bike engineered with the same rigor Wilier puts into its road race platforms, just aimed at rougher ground.
Geometry follows the same logic. Wilier built the Rave SLR ID2 around a compact wheelbase and short chainstays, which sharpens acceleration and keeps handling precise whether you're threading singletrack or holding a line through a fast gravel sector. Tire clearance runs up to 700x52mm, giving you room to run wider rubber for rougher terrain or drop down for speed on hardpack and gravel roads. The frame is built around UDH-compatible dropouts and 1x-specific drivetrain routing, so it's set up to run current SRAM and Shimano gravel groupsets cleanly rather than as an afterthought.
This build runs SRAM's Rival AXS XPLR E1 groupset, a 1x13 electronic setup purpose-built for gravel racing, pairing a 40t chainring with a 10-46 XG-1351 cassette for a wide enough range to handle steep climbs without sacrificing top-end speed on the flats. Rival AXS E1 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm Paceline rotors handle stopping power, and the whole drivetrain runs through a SRAM DUB Wide pressfit bottom bracket. Wheels are Miche's Sterrato 45 Carbon, a tubeless-ready gravel wheelset wrapped in 700x50 Vittoria Terreno T50 tires — a tread pattern built for mixed terrain rather than a single surface type. The cockpit keeps things practical: Wilier's own Stemma S2 aluminum stem and Barra S2 aluminum handlebar, a setup that trims cost off the build without touching the aero carbon frame underneath it. A Prologo Dimension R2 AGX T4.0 saddle rounds out the kit.
Wilier didn't hold back on the look, either. This one comes in Pixel Green Matte, part of a colorway lineup built around pixelated graphics and high-contrast finishes that pull from 90s digital and rave aesthetics — a deliberate departure from the usual muted gravel bike palette. Between the aero-tuned frame, wide-range 1x drivetrain, and room to run wider tires, the Rave SLR ID2 Rival XPLR E1 is built for riders who want to race gravel events or push pace on long mixed-terrain days, not just cruise fire roads. It's a race bike first, with the tire clearance and gearing to still make sense off the beaten path.
