Direct mounting eliminates the centre-bolt interface of a standard caliper, which reduces weight and tightens up the mechanical connection between caliper and frame.
A cross-brace stabilizer between the pivot points stiffens the arms, reducing flex in the system and giving you more consistent, predictable braking feel when it matters. The arms themselves have been shaped to accommodate wider tires — Shimano rates clearance for up to 28mm — and the caliper ships with aluminum-rim-specific brake pads as standard. Centering adjustment is accessible from the top of the caliper, and a barrel adjuster is built in for cable tension on the fly. The mounting position under the bottom bracket means this caliper is sold and used as a rear-only unit.
