The HED Ardennes RA Black Rim Brake Tubeless Wheelset is the flagship aluminum wheel in HED's all-road lineup, built for riders who still run rim brakes and want performance that doesn't feel dated next to disc-brake wheels. At $1,300, it's positioned as a premium alloy wheel rather than a budget option, built around HED's Turbine Braking Technology and hand-assembled at the company's Minnesota facility, where HED has built wheels since 1984.

The rim runs a 21mm internal width and 25mm external width, wide enough to support modern road and all-road tire volumes for better cornering grip and comfort than a narrower traditional rim brake rim. It's tubeless compatible, so riders can run tubeless tires for lower pressures and fewer flats on rougher pavement or light gravel. That width, combined with an alloy build, makes this a wheelset equally suited to standard road riding, endurance all-road routes, and light gravel use rather than being limited to smooth tarmac.

The standout feature is HED's Turbine Braking Technology, a machined and anodized black texture on the brake track itself rather than a coating applied on top.
