BMC Teammachine SLR Three Bike Info

The BMC Teammachine SLR Three Bike puts BMC's SLR carbon race platform and full electronic shifting within reach of a serious club rider. The Teammachine SLR is BMC's dedicated road race line — stiff, light, and aerodynamically optimized — and the Three builds it around a complete Shimano 105 Di2 drivetrain. The frame construction doesn't change between tiers in the SLR lineup; what changes is the component spec. The SLR Three arrives with 105 Di2 instead of Ultegra or Dura-Ace, but the ride character — the aerodynamics, the integrated cockpit, the compliance engineering — is exactly the same frame.

The Teammachine SLR carbon frame incorporates three of BMC's core technologies. Aerocore Design shapes the tube profiles for aerodynamic efficiency — cross-sections and transitions are optimized to reduce drag in actual riding positions rather than purely in a wind tunnel. ICS Technology (Integrated Cockpit System) routes all cables and hoses internally through the frame and matching stem, eliminating external housing from the cockpit entirely. The headtube, stem, and bars connect through a single clean interface with no cables or hoses visible. TCC — BMC's Tuned Compliance Concept — is specified at the Race level on this frame. TCC manages how specific zones of the frame flex under load; the Race setting prioritizes lateral and torsional stiffness at the bottom bracket and head tube for direct power transfer and sharp handling, while allowing calibrated vertical compliance at the seat tube and rear end to smooth out road chatter on longer efforts. Rear axle spacing is 12×142mm, front is 12×100mm. The fork runs a 48mm offset on 47 and 51 cm sizes and 43mm on 54 through 61 cm to maintain consistent front-end handling across the range.

The complete Shimano 105 Di2 groupset runs R7170 hydraulic disc brake levers, R7150 front and rear derailleurs, and an R7100 crankset with 50/34 chainrings. The R7101 12-speed cassette covers 11-34 — a usable spread for paceline riding and sustained climbs without requiring a separate build. Shimano RT70 Centerlock rotors at 160mm front and rear pair with the R7170 hydraulic calipers. Electronic shifting means consistent actuation independent of housing wear, temperature, or cable tension — buttons trigger servo motors in the derailleurs directly, and indexing is self-adjusting. For riders who've been riding mechanical systems, the step to Di2 is noticeable under effort when clean shifts matter most.

The cockpit is built around BMC's ICS integration. The BMC HB D4 alloy bar has 135mm of drop, 70mm of reach, and 6 degrees of flare — a shape that allows a natural transition from hoods to drops without a cramped position in the bend. The BMC RSM 01 stem is part of the same integrated system, with stem length varying from 90mm on the 47 cm to 120mm on the 61 cm. The Teammachine SLR Carbon D-shaped seatpost runs 15mm of offset. Wheels are PRD23 alloy rims with Shimano TC500 hubs, tubeless-ready, rolling on Pirelli P Zero Road tires at 700×26. Tire clearance extends to 30mm. Saddle spec is Fizik Antares R7 (140mm) or Selle Italia Model X Superflow (145mm) depending on size. Bike weight is approximately 8.3 kg. Pedals are not included.

The Teammachine SLR Three is the right bike for riders who want race-geometry handling and the reliability of electronic shifting without paying for a top-tier groupset they may not fully exploit. The frame is the same SLR construction regardless of which Three, Two, or One you're comparing — you're not buying a lesser bike by choosing 105 Di2 over Ultegra. For most riders on most routes, the difference between groupset tiers is smaller than the difference between a race-geometry carbon frame and anything below it. The SLR Three makes that argument at $3,299. Available in Neon Red in sizes 47, 51, 54, 56, 58, and 61 cm.

The RA Perspective

The Teammachine SLR Three is one of those bikes we find ourselves recommending often, because the value proposition is genuinely hard to argue with. The SLR frame is BMC's race platform — the same Aerocore tube shaping, the same ICS integrated cockpit, the same TCC Race compliance specification — and you get it here with Shimano 105 Di2. That's a meaningful bike at a competitive price.

The ICS integration is worth experiencing in person before you order. The cockpit is clean in a way that matters for more than aesthetics — there are no cable stops to catch debris, no housing to kink, no external lines shifting the aerodynamic profile of the front end. Building it up is slightly more involved than a standard road bike, but the result is tidy and long-lasting.

The TCC Race compliance level means this frame is tuned for stiffness. It's not a rough ride — BMC's compliance engineering takes some of the edge off — but if you're coming from an endurance-oriented frame, the SLR Three will feel noticeably more direct. That's appropriate for the bike's intent, but worth knowing if you're primarily doing long days on rough roads.

Shimano 105 Di2 is genuinely good. The R7170 hydraulic levers feel solid in hand, shifting is precise and self-adjusting, and the hydraulic brakes handle wet descents without drama. Some riders will eventually want to upgrade to Ultegra or Dura-Ace, but many won't — 105 Di2 holds up well and the ergonomics are the same across the electronic road range.

At $3,299, this is a bike that punches well above what the price might suggest to someone unfamiliar with how BMC tiers their lineup.
