Pivot Switchblade V6 Ride GX Eagle Transmission Bike Info

The Pivot Switchblade V6 Ride GX Eagle Transmission Bike occupies the space between trail bike and enduro machine without apologizing to either camp. Built on Pivot's Hollow Core carbon V6 chassis with 142mm of rear travel and 160mm up front, the Switchblade climbs efficiently enough for all-day days in the mountains and descends with enough composure and stability to take the line you actually want rather than the one that seems safe. This is the sixth generation of a bike Pivot has been refining since it became a staple in the all-mountain conversation, and the updates show: slacker head angle, steeper seat tube, longer wheelbase, and size-specific chainstays that stay tight and responsive in smaller frames while growing incrementally on larger ones.

The suspension is dw-link, Dave Weagle's patented four-bar linkage system that Pivot has built their trail and enduro lineup around for years. The rear shock is a Fox Performance Float X, vertically mounted in a trunnion metric configuration. In practice, the dw-link delivers low pedaling bob without requiring a climb switch, progressive end-stroke support when things get rowdy, and genuine small-bump sensitivity throughout the travel. The Fox 36 GRIP2 fork runs 160mm of travel with a 44mm offset — GRIP2 gives you independent high and low-speed compression and rebound adjustment, which matters when you're dialing the bike in for different terrain. This is a capable suspension package that doesn't require upgrades to perform.

Flip Chip and Wheel Compatibility

The Switchblade V6 includes a flip chip that adjusts geometry on-trail without tools — it changes the head tube angle between two positions in the 65.2–65.7° range, shifts the seat tube angle, and alters chainstay length accordingly. Beyond geometry, the flip chip unlocks wheel size flexibility: the Switchblade runs 29/29 out of the box, but is fully compatible with mullet setups (29" front, 27.5" rear) or full 27.5" configurations without geometric compromise. The rear axle is 12x157mm Super Boost Plus spacing, which improves the chain line geometry for wide-range drivetrains and adds lateral stiffness at the rear end.

SRAM GX Eagle Transmission

The drivetrain is SRAM's GX Eagle Transmission — the AXS wireless electronic system built around a direct-mount rear derailleur that interfaces with the UDH hanger. There's no B-screw, no cable tension to set, no traditional limit screws. The SRAM AXS Pod Controller triggers shifts wirelessly, and the system is designed to shift cleanly under pedaling load — something that matters on technical climbs where a missed shift costs you momentum. The cassette runs 10-52t over 12 speeds with a 32T chainring, giving you a range that covers steep climbs and fast descents. The drivetrain does not include a front derailleur; this is a 1x-only setup.

Brakes, Wheels, and Cockpit

SRAM Code R 4-piston brakes with 200mm front and 180mm rear Centerline rotors provide stopping power well beyond what this bike's trail riding peers typically spec. The DT Swiss M1900 wheels roll on DT Swiss 370 hubs with 30mm internal width rims — a solid all-mountain wheel that's durable and tubeless-ready. Tires are Maxxis Minion DHF 29x2.5 up front and Minion DHRII 29x2.4 at the rear, a proven combination for aggressive trail and enduro terrain. The Fox Performance Elite Transfer dropper post is size-specific in drop length: 125mm for XS, 150mm for S, 175mm for M, and 200mm for L and XL. The Phoenix Team aluminum bar runs 780mm on XS through L frames and 800mm on XL. Grips are Phoenix Factory Lock-On. Pedals are not included.

Final Take

The Pivot Switchblade V6 Ride GX Eagle Transmission is a properly capable all-mountain bike with a drivetrain and suspension spec that punches well above its price point. The dw-link efficiency means you can pedal it places most enduro bikes would suffer on, and the flip chip and wheel size compatibility mean you can tune the ride character to suit your home trails. Available in multiple colorways, sizes XS through XL.

The RA Perspective

The Switchblade occupies a specific and genuinely useful slot in the mountain bike market — it's the bike you recommend when someone wants to ride everything and doesn't want to own two bikes to do it. We've seen it work for riders who spend weekends on technical enduro trails and weekdays on longer trail loops where a heavier, slacker bike would feel like a slog. The dw-link suspension genuinely does both things: it climbs without constant bobbing, and it descends with enough travel and support to not feel overwhelmed on steep, chunky terrain.

The GX Eagle Transmission build is a good value call at this price. The electronic shifting is wireless, shifts under load, and requires almost no maintenance relative to cable-actuated systems. On trail, that matters — you're not thinking about shift quality, you're thinking about the line. SRAM Code R brakes are a step above what most bikes at this price ship with, and the 200mm front rotor gives you real modulation and power on longer, steeper descents.

The flip chip is worth understanding before the bike ships. It's a simple system, but riders should know which position they're in and why. For most people on most trails, the slacker position is the right call. Riders who spend a lot of time on tighter, more technical cross-country terrain might prefer the other setting. The wheel size flexibility is a genuine future-proofing feature — if you want to try a mullet setup down the road, the frame handles it without any geometric penalty.

This is a bike we'd feel comfortable recommending to a wide range of riders. It's not the lightest trail bike and it's not the most aggressive enduro bike, but it does both better than almost anything else at the price.
