Yeti ASR C3 Bike Info
The Yeti ASR C3 Bike is the entry point to one of the most talked-about cross-country race platforms in recent memory. The ASR is Yeti's reincarnated XC race bike — built after a decade away from the discipline and designed to handle modern XC racing's demands for both speed and technical capability. The C3 puts that same platform and the same 115mm flex-stay suspension under riders who want the ASR experience at a more accessible price, built on Yeti's C/Series carbon construction with a SRAM GX AXS Eagle Transmission drivetrain and RockShox SID Select suspension package.
The C/Series carbon frame shares the same design intent and geometry as the TURQ-Series ASR builds — the same 66.5° head tube angle across all five sizes, the same size-specific chainstay lengths, the same forward-bias seat tube angles ranging from 70.4° to 72.1°, and the same 29" wheel platform. What changes between C-Series and TURQ-Series is the carbon fiber specification and layup process, not the riding philosophy or the suspension kinematics. The frame still includes internally tunneled cable routing with secure port closures that eliminate rattle on rough ground, 148mm x 12mm BOOST dropouts, threaded bottom bracket, sealed pivot bearings, and a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) for easy trailside replacements. The integrated rear fender that keeps debris out of the suspension on race days is here too, along with dual water bottle mounts and ample clearance for 29x2.4 rubber.
The suspension is built around the same flex-stay design that has been central to Yeti's engineering approach since 2003, updated for modern short-stroke shock geometry and current XC kinematics. The RockShox SID Select 3P fork runs 120mm up front, and the SIDLuxe Select+ 3P handles 115mm of rear travel. Both run 3P remote lockout — the same TwistLoc grip-twist system that integrates into the cockpit cleanly and lets riders lock out suspension for sprints or smooth fire roads without breaking their grip. The near-linear suspension progression keeps the mid-stroke active and supportive for the technical terrain that defines modern XC riding, with progressive ramp-up in the final quarter of travel to absorb bigger impacts without bucking the chassis.
Design Benefits
- Full ASR platform and geometry — the C3 runs on the same frame architecture as the TURQ-Series builds, with identical head tube angles, size-specific chainstays and seat tube angles, and the same flex-stay suspension kinematic design. The ride character is informed by the same engineering brief as the race-spec builds above it.
- SRAM GX AXS Eagle Transmission wireless drivetrain — wireless shifting at this price point is a genuine advantage. The 32T front ring and 10-52 cassette cover the full range from steep technical climbs to open descents, and the T-Type transmission eliminates the outer cage that conventional derailleurs use — less to catch on rocks and roots.
- TwistLoc suspension lockout on both fork and shock — the RockShox SID Select 3P fork and SIDLuxe Select+ 3P shock both run TwistLoc integration, letting riders go from open to locked with a grip twist. This is the same suspension lockout system used on the TURQ-Series builds and it works just as well here.
- Fox Transfer SL Performance Elite dropper — the shorter seat tube on the ASR opens up meaningful dropper travel: 125mm on XS and S frames, 150mm on M through XL. The Performance Elite tier delivers reliable actuation without the cost premium of the Factory version.
- Race-focused frame features throughout — integrated rear fender, dual internal bottle cage mounts, pivot-mounted chainguide compatibility, and 29x2.4 tire clearance across all five frame sizes. These details aren't afterthoughts; they're part of what makes the ASR platform a genuine race tool rather than a marketing exercise.
Final Take
The ASR C3 is for riders who want Yeti's XC race platform without committing to the TURQ-Series price. The flex-stay suspension, the ASR geometry, and the race-specific frame details are all present — the C/Series carbon construction and RockShox Select-level suspension represent the trade-offs that bring the price down. SRAM GX AXS Eagle Transmission makes wireless shifting accessible at this tier, and the Maxxis Rekon tire combo is ready for the technical terrain the ASR was designed to handle. For riders stepping into serious XC for the first time or building a competitive training bike, the C3 makes a strong case.
