Assos GTO Spring/Fall LS Dermasensor Info

The Assos GTO Spring/Fall LS Dermasensor is a long-sleeve base layer built for the cooler shoulder seasons, when temperatures swing mid-ride and a standard base layer leaves you either clammy or cold. It's constructed from 3D jacquard warp-knit fabric, produced as a single finished garment rather than sewn panels, which gives it exceptional softness, stretch, and breathability along with added insulation for cool-weather riding.

That seamless construction is the point of a Dermasensor base layer — with no stitched seams to create friction points, it sits against the skin like a second layer rather than a garment layered on top of it, and it eliminates the rubbing that can happen between skin and other equipment layers on long rides. Raw cut edges at the sleeves and waist remove the need for hems entirely, cutting bulk when layering under a jersey, jacket, or thermal shell. That raw cut also means the sleeves can be trimmed to length if you want a shorter fit without hemming.

Assos cuts this base layer in their regularFit, built for comfort on long training rides and for layering underneath thermal insulation or a shell rather than worn alone. The fabric regulates moisture and resists odor while holding a warm, dry microclimate against the skin in cool conditions, which is exactly the job a spring and fall base layer needs to do. For riders who need a reliable layer for temperamental weather, when a ride might start cold and finish warm, the GTO Spring/Fall LS Dermasensor is built to work quietly underneath whatever else you're wearing.

The RA Perspective

This is one of those pieces that's easy to underrate until you've ridden in it on a genuinely unpredictable day. The seamless construction is the real difference from a standard base layer — there's no seam sitting under a heart rate strap or rubbing where a jersey zipper sits, and it disappears completely once you've got a jacket or thermal layer over it.

The insulation is moderate, which is the right call for a spring/fall piece. It's warmer than Assos's summer base layers but it's not going to carry you through genuinely cold rides on its own — this is a layering piece first, meant to sit under a jacket or vest rather than replace one. On a ride that starts at 40 degrees and climbs into the 60s, it does a good job of not overheating you once the temperature comes up, which is where a lot of thicker base layers fall short.

The raw-cut sleeves are a small detail worth knowing about: they're meant to be trimmed if you want a shorter cuff, so don't expect a finished hem out of the box.

We'd point riders toward this for early spring and late fall rides with real temperature swings, where you want one base layer that works from the cold start to the warmer middle of the ride, rather than swapping layers at the car.
