The Lake MX239 Gravel Shoes - Wide is Lake's gravel race shoe built on a wider version of the brand's Competition Last for riders who need more volume through the forefoot without giving up the fit precision of a race shoe. Closure comes from side-mounted BOA Li2 Push/Pull dials, spaced further apart than on Lake's road shoes so you get separate zone adjustment across the forefoot rather than one uniform pull across the whole shoe.

Underneath, the MX239 pairs Lake's 100% carbon fiber Competition sole with a real rubber Mountain Race X outsole, built with extended toe protection and room for forefoot lugs where a road shoe's sole would just be flat carbon. That combination keeps the sole stiff enough for efficient power transfer on the bike while giving you real traction and some protection for the moments you're off it — hiking a loose climb, pushing through a technical section, or just walking around before or after a race.

The upper comes in a choice of two constructions: a Clarino microfiber upper (available in Stone/Black or White/Black) or a recycled leather upper in Black/Gold, both built with mesh panels and Helcor abrasion-resistant leather along with an Outlast heel lining to help regulate temperature. A fiberglass-reinforced internal heel counter gives the shoe a more stable, locked-in heel hold, and the tongue is integrated into the medial side of the upper rather than sitting as a separate piece — it wraps as the BOA dials close, so it distributes pressure more evenly and doesn't shift or bunch up over rough terrain the way a traditional tongue can. This wide version runs sizes 37 to 50.
