The HED Jet RC6 Pro Disc Brake Tubeless Wheelset takes HED's Plus rim construction and pushes it deeper — a 60mm rim aimed at riders who want more aero benefit than a shallower wheel offers, without giving up the predictability those shallower wheels are known for. It's part of HED's Jet RC Pro Series, the disc brake, tubeless-ready lineup HED builds for time trial, triathlon, and road racing use. At $1,500, it sits at the same price point as HED's shallower Jet RC4 Pro, so the choice between the two comes down to how much depth a rider wants versus how much crosswind exposure they're willing to manage.

That crosswind question is where HED's Stability Control Technology comes in. SCT is engineered to reduce the side force a rider feels from crosswinds at yaw angles between 0 and 15 degrees, and HED says it lets the Jet RC6 Pro's 60mm depth handle with the stability of a 30-40mm wheel when conditions turn gusty. The rim uses a true NACA airfoil cross-section to manage that airflow rather than relying purely on added depth for aero gains — the idea that lets a deep-section wheel work for everyday riding rather than only calm, controlled race conditions.

Underneath that aero shape is HED's familiar Plus rim technology, introduced in 2014: an alloy rim bonded to a carbon aero fairing rather than a full carbon layup. That hybrid approach is what lets HED build a 60mm-deep wheel that isn't purely dependent on carbon for its structure or its shape. Both wheels share a 25mm external width and 21mm internal width, dimensions that support 25-32mm tires and give tubeless setups a rounder, more supported tire profile. The rim ships with tubeless tape pre-applied, and riders can run it tubed or tubeless up to 80 psi.

The wheelset is disc brake only, with Centerlock rotor mounts and a 12mm thru-axle up front. The rear hub is compatible with Shimano HG, SRAM XDR, or Campagnolo Ekar freehub bodies, so the wheelset isn't tied to one drivetrain if a rider's bike or groupset changes. HED builds the wheels with bladed steel spokes — 18 in the front wheel, 24 in the rear — a lower front spoke count that's common on deeper aero wheels, where the rim itself does more of the structural work.

Weight comes in at 851g for the front wheel and 963g for the rear, for a total right around 1,814g — more than the RC4 Pro, which tracks with the deeper rim and its added aero fairing. We think of the Jet RC6 Pro as the wheelset for a rider who's already decided they want a deep-section aero wheel and just needs it to be one they can actually control in the wind. Stability Control Technology is the reason we'd recommend this over a generic 60mm wheel — it's genuinely noticeable on a gusty ride, where a wheel this deep would normally start pushing your line around.

The honest tradeoff is weight. At about 1,814 grams for the set, it's noticeably heavier than HED's shallower RC4 Pro, and you'll feel that on a climb or in a hard acceleration out of a corner. This isn't a wheel we'd put on a hilly road race bike. It's a wheel for flatter courses, time trials, and triathlon legs where holding speed matters more than snap.

We'd also point out that the lower front spoke count (18 versus 24 in back) is standard for a wheel this deep, but it's worth knowing if you're used to a more traditional build — the rim itself is doing more of the structural work here. For a triathlete, time trialist, or road racer who wants real depth and doesn't want to think twice about crosswinds, the Jet RC6 Pro is a smart, well-engineered choice.
