3T Ultra 2 Italia GRX Di2 Bike Info

The 3T Ultra 2 Italia GRX Di2 Bike is built at 3T's Italian carbon factory — the same facility behind the brand's flagship race builds — and represents the most accessible electronic spec in the Ultra 2 Italia lineup. 3T (Tecnologia Tubi Torino) has been supplying components to the professional peloton since 1961, and the Italia suffix is not incidental: Made in Italy construction is central to what differentiates these bikes from the wider gravel market. The frame uses 3T's proprietary FUSION CARBON process, which layers three distinct manufacturing techniques — filament winding, Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), and conventional carbon layup — selecting each method for the areas of the frame where it contributes most. Filament winding for consistent tube geometry, RTM for complex junction areas, traditional layup for panels and high-load zones. That specificity in manufacturing is what makes FUSION CARBON worth talking about rather than just calling it carbon.

The Ultra 2 platform was engineered around wide tires from the outset. The frame clears up to 57mm of tire width as measured — genuinely wide by gravel standards — without the compromised handling that can come from forcing clearance into a geometry not designed for it. The 3T Fango Ultra 2 fork (Fango means mud in Italian) carries the wide-clearance intent up front. Chainstay length holds constant at 437mm across all four sizes, keeping the rear-end character consistent whether you're on a small or an extra-large. Head tube angles range from 69° on the S to 72° on the XL — a notably slack front end on the smaller sizes that suits riders who want the bike to feel composed and confident on technical or loose terrain rather than planted and direct. Stack runs from 560mm (S) to 620mm (XL), with reach from 360mm to 384mm.

3T Superghiaia Integrale LTD Cockpit

The handlebar is the 3T Superghiaia Integrale LTD — 3T's top-tier integrated gravel cockpit, with all cables routing internally through the stem-and-bar system. The bar flares significantly from hood to drop: 40cm at the hoods to 47.8cm at the drops in S/M, and 42cm to 49.9cm in L/XL. That spread is purposeful — it broadens your hand position and control surface when you're braking hard on loose descents or navigating rock gardens with your hands in the drops. Reach is 77mm and drop is 110mm, a compact profile that suits riders who want a more neutral upper body position rather than an aggressive road-style reach. The 3T More 2 stem is sized to the frame across the range, from 80mm on the S to 110mm on the XL.

Shimano GRX Di2 and MTB Cassette

The drivetrain is Shimano GRX Di2 — Shimano's electronic gravel-specific groupset. The RX825 levers and RX827 rear derailleur handle shifting via Di2's wired electronic system, with a 40T chainring up front and a Shimano Deore XT M8200 12-speed 10-51T cassette in back. That rear cassette choice reflects 3T's deliberate approach: pair a gravel-specific front ring with an MTB cassette for genuine low-end climbing range without adding a front derailleur. The 10-51T span covers steep, extended climbing on loaded terrain while still giving you a useful top gear for open roads and fireroads. Stopping power comes via Shimano GRX RX820 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm Shimano CL800 rotors front and rear.

Wheels, Tires, and Finishing Kit

The wheelset is Fulcrum Lite GR — Fulcrum's gravel-specific alloy rim, tubeless compatible, built for durability and all-condition riding. Tires are Continental, with the specific model dependent on configuration — confirm with your RA Cycles sales associate at the time of order. The saddle is a Fizik Vento Argo X5 at 140mm width. The seatpost is a 3T Carbon round post, 27.2mm in diameter with zero offset. 3T's own carbon side-load bottle cage comes included on the right side, and bar tape is 3T Prendo Tough. The Ultra 2 Italia GRX Di2 is available in four Italian-named colorways — Lavico, Glicine, Avorio, and Bamboo — in sizes S through XL.

The RA Perspective

The Ultra 2 Italia's main argument is the frame. FUSION CARBON is not just 3T's name for carbon — it's a specific combination of manufacturing techniques, and the fact that it's done in Italy matters in a way that's hard to quantify but easy to feel when you're mid-ride. The frame has a liveliness to it that distinguishes it from the stiffer, more planted character of aero-optimized gravel bikes. It moves with you rather than requiring you to move around it.

The GRX Di2 drivetrain is a well-matched choice at this price. Shimano's electronic shifting is reliable in a way that wireless systems still occasionally aren't — Di2 uses wired connections between components, so there's no Bluetooth pairing or battery-management anxiety mid-ride. The 10-51T cassette range is where the bike earns points for versatility: you can genuinely climb steep, technical terrain on this without spinning out or mashing gears, which opens up routes that a more road-biased gravel setup would require you to manage around.

The Superghiaia Integrale LTD bar is one of the better integrated cockpits in the segment. The flare is significant — nearly 8cm wider at the drops than the hoods on the small sizes — and that feels exaggerated until you're descending something technical and suddenly want every millimeter of that width. The short 110mm drop makes it accessible to riders who don't ride with a pronounced road position.

The Fulcrum Lite GR wheels are honest workhorses — alloy, tubeless-ready, well-suited to mixed terrain but not glamorous. Riders who want carbon wheels will find upgrade paths later. At $6,999, the Ultra 2 Italia GRX Di2 is priced for the rider who wants Made in Italy construction and electronic shifting in a package that doesn't require tradeoffs to justify the purchase.
