Fizik Antares R1 Open Saddle Info
The Fizik Antares R1 Open Saddle is said to be for chameleons. It shares the same shell shape as other Antares but has a cut-out down the middle for those who love the shape but want a little pressure relief for their sit zone.
Chameleon is a term from Fizik’s Spine Concept fit system. Chameleon is someone who has medium back flexibility and low pelvic rotation, or halfway between a Snake (Arione) and Bull (Aliante). It’s shorthand, a guide, but a overly simple one, as it’s a good saddle for those who like their seats flattish and a bit short.
The saddle is 276mm long by 141mm wide in Regular and 276 x 153mm in Large. The carbon-reinforced nylon composite shell his held up by 7 x 9mm carbon braided rails.
The rest of the saddle is built as you’d expect from Fizik. They cover the shell, save the channel, with thin padding. Then they cover the foam with Microtex, a tough, light, weather-resistant synthetic leather.
The Fizik logo in back covers their integrated clip system for lights and bags.
Weight for the Fizik Antares R1 Open Regular Saddle is 185g.
